Melanie Laurent The gorgeous Melanie Laurent first became known in America after portraying Shosanna Dreyfus in Quentin Tarantino’s World War II movie Inglorious Basterds, alongside Hollywood heavyweights such as Brad Pitt and Oscar winner Christoph Waltz. Born on February 23, she is a Pisces. Pisceans are known to be imaginative, ingenuous and intuitive characters and there are so many creative geniuses and artists who are Pisceans as well.
Melanie, the daughter of a ballerina and a voice-over actor, grew up surrounded by creativity all her life, which is why it was no surprise as to why she chose to pursue acting. Even her maternal grandparents made a living through film poster editing. Her career began when Gerard Depardieu, a well-known French actor and her father’s friend, asked her if she wanted to be in the movies. She agreed and since then, it has been a fulfilling creative journey for her.
Most Pisceans are very popular due to their easygoing and agreeable nature. Aside from this, they tend to be super generous around people they trust. They are compassionate and often, they concern themselves with problems of others rather than their own. One downside to their personality is that they lack the initiative to solve their own problems and just wait until something settles it. In short, they are terribly fatalistic.
One of the most distinguishable characteristics that Pisceans have is that they tend to withdraw themselves from reality, making them excellent in the artistic field. They are very versatile and observant, but they lack leadership skills. In jobs, they often work better as subordinates rather than as leaders. Melanie has been acting since she was 16 in her native France, debuting in the movie The Bridge co-starring Depardieu.
Since 1999, she has appeared in over 20 films and won a Cesar Award for Most Promising actress in 2006 for her role in I’m Fine, Don’t Worry. In 2008, she branched out into directing and writing. She made the film De moins en moin, which was nominated for Best Short Film in the Cannes Film Festival.
Melanie has been in a long-term relationship with fellow French actor Julian Bosselier. In their personal relationships, Pisceans are never egotistical. Their easygoing attitude always makes the relationship better. Pisceans are deeply complex characters with emotional feelings. Although she has been with Bosselier, she also lived with singer Damien Rice in Ireland while they were working on her first album.
Aside from being a director, writer, actor and musician, Melanie has also been active in her initiative to help the environment with her being one of the ambassadors of Kofi Annan’s Global Humanitarian Forum.
