He is an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, given in recognition of his notable work in films and television. Born on July 13, he is a Cancer. Cancerians are widely regarded for their shrewd and protective nature. They are also very prudent and cautious in their undertakings. Patrick Stewart, one of Hollywood’s great luminaries, is a true Cancerians in his career and personal life.

Born in Yorkshire, England, Patrick is the son of a weaver and textile worker and a British Army Regimental Sergeant Major. Patrick revealed in later interviews that his father was a powerful figure in his life. Throughout his own childhood, his family was poor and disadvantaged. His mother frequently suffered from his father’s wrath. Later in his life, his childhood sufferings led him to become a patron for Refuge, a charity for abused women. At the age of 15, he dropped out of school to participate in local plays while working as a journalist and obituary writer. He was also athletic, training as a boxer in his spare time. However, when he was given a choice between acting and journalism, he picked the former.

After a stint in the Royal Shakespeare Theater, he made the move to Los Angeles when he was given the plum role of Jean-Luc Picard in the iconic TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation. At first, he was reluctant to join the show and was unaware of the show’s cult status in the United States but he figured that he should make the money first before moving back to London and staging Shakespeare productions of his own.

In 2011, he singled out his role in Star Trek when asked about the highlight of his career. He also stated that he was very proud of his work in Star Trek. Not surprisingly, he won numerous accolades for his role. In the latter years after the Star Trek series ended, he was cast in numerous films, including being Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men and all its sequels. He found it quite hard to not get typecast in Hollywood. However, he also found success in voice-acting, as he lent his voice to numerous TV productions and animated films as well.

A Cancer is prone to imaginations and fantasies, often wanting to make their lives fit into a more fantastical ideal. They are great appreciators of art, literature and beauty. In their personal relationships, they are an ideal balance of toughness and fragility, and they can be expressive and passionate. However, more than love, they value loyalty and trust from their partners.

Patrick Stewart has two children from his first wife Sheila Falconer, named Daniel and Sophie Alexandra. He became engaged to Star Trek producer Wendy Neuss in 1997, and married her on August 2000. The couple divorced three years later. Until 2007, he was romantically involved with Lisa Dillon, who was an actress in a production of The Master Builder.
